Tucked away in a nondescript strip mall on Grape Rd, in between Burlington Coat Factory and Hobby Lobby is one of Mishawaka’s true restaurant treasures—Bowl of Pho. When the weather gets cold, I schedule pretty much weekly lunch visits to the Bowl for a dose of their Pho Ga (Chicken Udon Soup).
There are a lot of good options Thai/Vietnamese/Cambodian/Chinese food in the Bend, which we will surely cover here. But there is no doubt that Bowl of Pho belongs high on anyone’s top five list. The beef and chicken pho are both amazing. The portion sizes are massive. The spring rolls are fresh and springy. The owners are incredibly nice, and they will welcome you as a regular after just a few visits. They’ll also give you plenty of sides to dress up your soup (bean sprouts, mint, etc). My go-to is their in-house chili oil. If pho is not your thing, (1) there is something wrong with you, but (2) they have a full menu of other options.
Bowl of Pho is open every day except Tuesday for lunch and dinner. I often forget on Tuesdays, drive there, and then mope in the parking lot when I realize there will be no pho today.
