Our final stop on the October Bender tour: The View Tavern. This place has everything you could ask for in a local dive bar: a cozy no-frills atmosphere, a loyal following of regulars (the kind who are greeted by the bartender and other patrons upon entering with shouts of “now here comes trouble!”), and killer food to go with your beer. This isn’t the place to order a fancy cocktail, unless you like a good Bloody Mary. The View is famous for their Loaded Bloody Marys. This is the place to order a pitcher of domestic beer while you watch the Notre Dame game with real life-long fans.
The thing that sets The View apart from most other places in town, though, is their amazing burgers. The Becky Burger was voted Best Burger in the 2014 Burger Wars of Northern Indiana. I’m pretty sure that they’ll have no problem holding on to this title in 2015!
Yesterday, Sam and I stopped at The View for a quick lunch. I ordered the Homicide Burger (named for the St. Joseph County Homicide Department next door), a giant burger topped with pepperjack cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and jalapeno sweet relish.
Sam ordered a create your own style burger. His had muenster cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and horseradish. Burgers come with chips, but Sam decided to order onion rings and I decided to order fries. We both made great decisions!
I’m pretty sure you can’t make a bad decision at The View. So grab some friends and spend a relaxing afternoon. You’re sure to make it through to spring!
