Winter Restaurant Week

It’s one of my favorite times of the year in South Bend – Winter Restaurant Week!

For those of you who are not familiar with South Bend’s Restaurant Week, it’s a two-week period when some of South Bend’s finest restaurants offer reduced price menus. It takes place both in the winter and the summer. Winter Restaurant Week began on Monday, January 25 and ends on Sunday, February 7.

Restaurant Week is a great time to try South Bend’s fanciest and most expensive restaurants. Cafe Navarre, Tapastrie, LaSalle Grill, and Tippecanoe Place are all participating in Winter Restaurant Week and are offering multi-course price fixe menus, typically $33 per person for a three-course meal. Tapastrie is offering a menu for $33 for two people, which is a huge discount compared to their normal pricing.

Not all of the participating restaurants are swanky. Casual establishments, such as Chicory Cafe, South Bend Brew Works, and Cinco 5, among others, are also participating. These restaurants are offering a variety of different menus – ranging from multi-course lunches and/or dinners for one person for $11 or for two for $22 or $33.

I’ve been to LaSalle Grill for Restaurant Week many times, and the menu is always delicious. Last winter I had the baked brie appetizer with steak and a dessert for $33. Wine is discounted at $6 per glass. Chicory Cafe is offering soup or salad, a po’boy, and beignets for $11.

So, grab your friends and check out some of South Bend’s best restaurants and support the local economy. If you’re interested in going to one of the more expensive restaurants, be sure to make a reservation.
